We’re Back!
Greetings, Treasured Reader!
It has been many, many months since we blogged here. The silence ends now. We are renewing our commitment to monthly blog posts on topics related to ethical leadership: the capacity and commitment to empower others to improve the world.
This has been an exciting time for Ethical Leaders in Action (ELA). We have continued to grow our practice working in public safety (Fire/EMS and law enforcement), health care, and business. We have also expanded, especially in the public sector, working with elected and appointed leaders on topics related to both strategy and leadership. Marty Scheerer and I continue to work with remarkable leaders committed to serving their communities.
We have also expanded our customized ethics training and public speaking to serve multiple professions. It’s fun and exciting to learn about practices ranging from social work to pipeline engineering, applying our perspective to the ethical challenges – and opportunities – inherent faced by leaders in those contexts.
We have also been writing, if not blogging: Tom Laughlin and I have developed online assessments based on ELA’s Virtues of Ethical Leadership, which are currently in beta versions, and are completing a handbook to accompany the self-inventory version of the assessment. That book will be ELA’s second publication, following the publication of Thinking Aloud: Reflections on Ethical Leadership in 2014.
As president of Ethical Leaders in Action, I truly appreciate your interest in our work. The next blog post will be substantive, discussing how fire service leaders (in particular) can use ELA’s Virtues of Ethical Leadership to guide their own development and to improve their capacity to bring out the best in others. I hope that you enjoy it, and that these posts stimulate you to comment, share, and adapt our ideas to help you achieve your leadership goals.
