Professional Development Program: The Elements of Moral Action

Professional Development Program
The Elements of Moral Action

We live in a world where it can be extremely difficult to get a bearing with your moral compass.  What is the right thing to do?  Why should we do it?  How do we push through the tension or uncertainty surrounding difficult situations?  How can we consistently act in accordance with our values and fulfill our duties and responsibilities to others?

Ethical Leaders in Action can help you and your team increase your capacity to make the best choices AND act on them so that you are more effective as leaders.  Our program of professional development will equip you to better comprehend your values, understand your situation, and harness the strength to push on.

Topics include:

  • Realizing and reinforcing moral motivation.
  • Developing and practicing decision frameworks for moral clarity.
  • Acknowledging and strengthening moral courage.
  • Recognizing and responding to “moments of truth.”
  • Examining incidents of moral stress to improve our awareness and fortify ourselves.
  • Cultivating and honing our capacity for follow through.

Program length is 2-4 hours, depending on the desired depth and breadth of instruction.  It can be combined with additional instruction in ethical decision-making, ethical persuasion, and/or effective mentorship for a full day (8 hours) of training.   For maximum impact, this class can be customized to specific agencies, addressing specific topics and real-world examples for class participants.
